Lounging in London

I would like to report that we joined the 1 million people who either participated or watched the London pride parade on Saturday.
or
I would like to report that we were part of the 40,000 people who went to Hyde Park on Saturday night to watch the 40th anniversary of the Cure.

However that would be untruthful.

Instead I was one of the 20 million people plus in England on Saturday who complained about the heatwave and lay on the couch, drank beer and watched the football and the extraordinary and unlikely event that now England is in the semi final.

Plus we also watched these guys: (sorry about the photo quality)

Apparently they are regular visitors to Nick's back garden, much to his cat's disgust. Last year there was a skulk of 6 cubs who would come to play and trample all over the vege garden, much to Nick's disgust.
I have never seen foxes so close before. They are a lot leaner than I had thought- more hyena than Basil Brush really but kind of sweet when they played.
Not as sweet as the squirrel that was sunbathing in the guttering 2 stories up. So cute!

Today we made a bigger effort- still complaining about the heat which we have learnt doesn't actually peak until early evening.
We had coffee with our old neighbours in their new abode in Clerkenwell. Funny to see familiar furniture in new surroundings.
We then schlepped around our favourite haunts in East London for the afternoon.

At this part of the journey, I always find there to be a slight sadness knowing that my time with the people and places I love is fleeting and unlikely to be repeated soon. But I guess that is always the price of travelling....

  1. Foxes in the back garden! How super. Is it like us having possums in our back garden?
What a place to be as England wins its way into the semi finals. We could hear the roars from here
    Au revoir lovely London
